One of the main aspects about Regent Street is that it is constantly being redeveloped whilst retaining the existing historic architecture to allow new and exciting retailers to set up shop on the street. This means that hoardings are required once in a while, some conventional and some not-so conventional. The hoardings on this project ranged from window vinyls and units awaiting to be fitted out to large scale panel hoardings shielding a particular area.
The visual style of the hoardings was based around ‘The Mile of Style’ theming for Regent Street which uses long flowing linework as a base level which create patterns that are abstract, yet refined and can allow typography to be laid over the top. There were 10 separate sites of hoardings, all of which had their own look and feel. Black was the base colour and then either grey or white linework was used to create a graphic pattern that can be applied over a wide graphic area. Some other sites used graphic shapes and bronze and silver tones to cover the hoarding areas for the separate branded areas.
